What: SYHA has designed a stickhandling and shooting program for all Mite, Squirt, Pee Wee, and Bantam players to assist them in increasing their skill with handling and shooting the puck over the summer. To add a little fun, and some incentive, awards will be presented to all players who complete the program.
How: Follow the program for the level of play you will be playing for the 2015-2016 season. The training program starts on June 1 and ends on August 31. Track your progress on the provided tracking sheet. Parents, we will ask you to be the referee and attest to the accuracy of the tracking sheet and completion of the program.
Prizes: All players who complete the program will receive an SYHA Snipers & Danglers T-shirt and will be enrolled in a drawing for a gift certificate to Total Hockey worth $150. We will be awarding a gift certificate for the Mite/Squirt level and another one for the Pee Wee/Bantam level.
A 20-part video series devoted to off-ice drills that the National Team Development Program uses to keep the skills of players progressing when they aren't on the ice, comes to a close with the 21st and final segment. Each drill, narrated by NTDP assistant coach Ken Martel, builds on the one prior, and "Balance Board," is the grand finale. It requires a pair of 2 x 4s, one stacked perpendicularly on the other while the player stickhandles on top.
