SIOUX CITY - New locker rooms will be added to the city's IBP Ice Center, under an agreement adopted Monday by the City Council.

The locker addition will be built and paid for by the Siouxland Youth Hockey Association. Construction won't start until all the money has been raised. The city must approve the design plans, according to the agreement. Estimated cost of the addition will be between $250,000 and $300,000, Todd Lien, assistant manager of the IBP Ice Center, said.

The addition will include restrooms and lockers for the varsity, junior varsity and youngsters playing hockey at the ice center, 3808 Stadium Drive. The addition will be built on the east side of the building and will measure 72 feet long by 25 feet wide, Lien said.

If the money can be raised, construction should start this summer and should open be fall, he said.
