Minutes for the May 16, 2001 meeting of the Board of Directors were then reviewed. Motion by Sundlie and a second by Johnson to approve the minutes as printed. Motion carried unanimously.

Lisa Soole gave the Treasurer's Report. Questions and discussion followed. Motion made by Mills and seconded by Harp that the treasurer's report be approved. Motion passed.

President announced that Harlan Halverson had resigned his position on the board.

The Coaching Committee, represented by Mills, presented the current list of coaching applicants. Discussion on the Master Level Coaching Certificate required by the High School level could be obtained by a clinic in Chicago or Spooner, WI for $500 lead to a motion by Mooreland to have SYHA pay the fee only for 3 High School coaches. Soole seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. The Coaching Committee would like to know the SYHA policy on coaches' conduct on the road, specifically drinking around the children. We have no current policy, however, discussion was leaning toward using desecration and not to take action at this time. We would discourage inappropriate behavior and expect common sense and courtesy.

Risk Management - 1 in 3 teams is complying with the background checks.

The travel equipment position is now open with Halversons resignation.

Moreland reviewed the status of the City Contract. It is still being negotiated and we are 1 year into the 3-year contract. We have decided not to take over the concessions at the Ice Center. The profit sharing clause will remain in the contract.

Moreland presented the Skater Recruitment/Retention Committee ideas and recommendations (attached). Discussion was very positive.

Old Business: We received the check from the Musketeer fundraisers on our behalf approximately $1,100.00.

New Business: Registration dates are set for August 26th and 27th. New skater registration on September 16th. With the start date for regular youth hockey of October 8th.

We are in need of a board member to be a point man with the Musketeers.

Lois Holmes has volunteered to be the school liaison.

The registration cut-off date of July 1st may be changing back to January 1st. This would bring us back to born in year determining the division.
