SYHA 2006-07 Financial Policies and Responsibilities

Registration Fees
Registration fees are to be paid in full before the start of the season. For insurance purposes, all skaters must be registered before taking the ice (This includes travel team tryouts). Registration fees include the SYHA fee and a USA hockey fee. Fees will be established annually by the Board of Directors prior to each season. The USA hockey fee is established by USA Hockey.

Payment plans are no longer available. As an alternative, SYHA will now accept VISA or Master Card. Debit cards can be used only if they can be processed as a credit card.

Families demonstrating financial need are encouraged to ask about the SYHA Scholarship Program. Contact any SYHA Board Member for details.

Past Due Accounts
Skaters with past due accounts more than 30 days old are subject to suspension from play until account is brought current. Past due amounts from previous seasons must be paid in full before a skater will be allowed to register for the current season. Past Due amounts from previous seasons may not be added to a new Time Payment Plan.

SYHA Fundraisers
All skaters are required to participate in SYHA fundraisers unless they Buyout.

Christmas Greens: Minimum required Greens sales will be established annually by the Board of Directors prior to the beginning of each season. Skaters selling in excess of their minimums will receive a credit of 20 cents on each dollar sold over the minimum amount. Skaters who do not sell the required minimum will be charged 60 cents on each dollar below the minimum amount. There will be a designated time to turn in Greens orders, and Greens money. Skaters who do not pay for their Greens in full by January 1st of the current hockey season will be charged a $25 monthly Late Fee until the Greens are paid in full.

Pancake Tickets: Due no later than Pancake Day, which is generally the first Saturday in February. There is also a minimum sales requirement for Pancake tickets that is determined annually by the Board.

Musketeer Game Tickets: Each player is asked to sell a minimum of 4 Musketeer tickets. Tickets will be purchased at registration.

Buyout
Skaters who do not wish to participate in the SYHA fundraisers may pay a buyout fee. If a skater chooses to buyout, the buyout fee is due at the time of registration. The buyout fee will be determined annually by the Board of Directors prior to each season.

Scholarship Funds
The Association has a limited number of scholarships available to assist skaters who need financial assistance in order to participate in the program.

To determine eligibility for scholarships, the Association will generally follow the same guidelines used by the Sioux City School District to determine eligibility for the School lunch program.

A Scholarship Committee appointed by the Board of Directors will review and award scholarships. Maximum annual scholarship available is limited to $600 per skater. Scholarship funds may be applied to registration fees, and travel team expenses (for skaters in Bantam or high school age group only).

Skaters receiving scholarship funds will be required to meet one and a half times (1.5 times) the minimum requirements for SYHA Fundraisers.

Bad Checks
Skaters will be charged for any bank charges incurred by the Association for payments on account made with bad checks.

Travel Accounts
All fees for travel hockey including ice time, tournaments, travel expenses, etc. are in addition to regular youth hockey. Travel accounts must be paid within 30 days of billing to maintain skater eligibility for travel teams. Each travel team will have a Team Treasurer, who will bill and collect for travel accounts on a monthly basis.

Refunds
Once registered, Skaters are encouraged to play for the entire season. If extenuating circumstances arise, such as moving away from the community, injury, or other factors exist, the skater may receive a prorated refund of their registration fee at the discretion of the Board of Directors. The USA Hockey fee is non-refundable.
