Do you need to know how to skate to join Siouxland Youth Hockey?

No experience is necessary. SYHA coaches teach skating and hockey skills.

What equipment is required?

The required list of equipment includes: skates, shin guards, cup & supporter, elbow pads, hockey gloves, mouth piece, helmet with mask and stick. New, young players may progress faster without the bulk and weight of hockey pants, hockey socks and shoulder pads. As players grow older and more experienced they will want to add those pieces of equipment. See the SYHA Hockey Equipment Guide for information and fitting of equipment.

Where do players practice and play games?

SYHA games and practices are at the IBP Ice Center, 3803 Stadium Drive (next to Lewis & Clark Baseball Park). Some practices will be held at the Tyson Events Center when ice is available.

Who is eligible to join Siouxland Youth Hockey?

For the 2007-08 season, any boy or girl born in 2003 or later can join. Click here to view an age division chart.

How do you join Siouxland Youth Hockey?

SYHA will have sign up sessions at the IBP Ice Center, 3803 Stadium Drive (next to Lewis and Clark Ball Park). Skaters and a parent or guardian must attend registration as a parent/guardian's signature is needed for the Waiver of Liability, Financial Policies & Responsibilities, and USA Hockey's Zero Tolerance Policy. New player's will need their social security number.

Where can you purchase hockey equipment?

Equipment rental is available. Watch for details. There will be used equipment sale during SYHA signup days. New equipment can be purchased at local sporting goods stores. See the SYHA Hockey Equipment Guide for information and fitting of equipment.
