Metros drop tourney opener

DAVENPORT, Iowa - Ryan Thorsland gave the Sioux City Metros a strong start Friday night with a goal at the 1:55 mark of the first period.

However, Jacob Digmann tied the game 3 1/2 minutes later as the top-seeded Des Moines Oak Leafs rallied for a 10-1 first-round rout at the Midwest High School Hockey League Varsity Championships held at the Quad City Sports Center.

Des Moines (32-2-2-1), which got two goals apiece from Digmann, Chris Kunnen and Cody Weaver, added two goals in the second period and four goals in the third.
